Van der Brohe Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary would like to thank all who participated in monitoring the avian population on the grounds during 2023 using the eBird website.
We are delighted that 133 species were sighted in the past year vs. the ~70 species the first year counts were initiated.
We have completed several projects and plantings to make the Arboretum more attractive to both migrating and resident birds for habitat and forage, and have many more initiatives in the planning phase. This was the second year of our 44-acre pollinator meadow planting, and the Franciscan and ‘Birdberry’ gardens are filling out.
Your efforts help to reinforce this aspect of our mission. We look forward to next year’s count as we become known on the migration stopover map.
