Project Update: In July 2023, A Chappa Construction, LLC joined the council circle project team, taking over the installation. It is our hope that it will be completed in early September of 2023.
Sponsored by George Grimm of Milwaukee, the George E. & Susan E. Schiereck Grimm Council Circle is located on the Highland Trail in the Arboretum.
The Council Circle is derived from Native American heritage and was frequently included in the garden layouts of the famous mid-western landscape architect and conservationist Jens Jensen.
The floor paving of the circle features a compass rose pattern, with the axis of equinox and solstice etched into the stone. Seating is Valders stone. Construction of the circle began in fall of 2022, with the foundation being poured in December.
