Trail Installation Awaits More Cooperative Weather

Visitors to the VDBA project grounds this spring will have noticed the less-than-pleasant conditions for walking. Unfortunately, above average precipitation this spring has delayed trail installation—Manitowoc County received 11.34″ between March 1 and May 31, 2020 with locally heavier amounts.

Kevin Madson of Madson Tiling & Excavating Inc. is still awaiting dry ground to finish the trail system installation. Check back for updates.

  • What kind of chemical is in the product you will be using to kill off the unwanted grasses? A concerned property owner.

    • Hi Neil,

The spray applicator for the ground preparation has yet to be contracted. The bids being evaluated will define the chemicals to be used. Neighbors will be advised of the chemicals and the schedule prior to application. Note that the area to be sprayed extends only to the inside of the perimeter trail, leaving a broad buffer zone adjacent to residences.

  • Yes I Have a question. When will the trails be finished???? Can you tell me when they will finish spreading the rest of the stones in the pathway? Thank You.

    • Hi Nancy,
You pose a very good question, which has been asked by the City of Two Rivers, NRCS, and several other agencies. Madson Tiling and Excavating has the contract to install the trails, and is very much behind schedule, as you note. We are trying to get a date set for completion, and will keep those interested informed. We hope to have you enjoying the Arboretum soon.
