Two existing ponds at the west end of the grounds were cleared in spring of 2024 and lined with a clay sealer to help maintain more consistent water levels.

George Grimm sponsored the work, which was executed by Mammoth Construction of Manitowoc.

Many of the ponds’ original wetland plants were stored and reinstalled, and several additional plants have been set along the perimeter.

A new span over the ponds at Riverview Drive was been installed in July of 2024, re-connecting the trail loop at the west end of the grounds.

The view from the new bridge will allow observation of the turtles, frogs, and plantings as all these entities reestablish residency.

May 2025 Update:

The ponds on Riverview Drive have been dedicated to Arboretum benefactors George E. and Susan E. Schiereck Grimm, with stakes installed bearing the new names for each body of water.
