We’re delighted to share a special wildlife sighting that recently took place right here at the Van der Brohe Arboretum. Longtime friend, neighbor, and supporter Joel Trick captured a beautiful series of photos of a family of Red Foxes making their home on the arboretum grounds this spring.

Joel spotted at least six young kits playing near the entrance of their den beneath a large spruce tree not far from his residence. He graciously shared both the photos and a note about the experience:
“The attached photos were taken on the Arboretum near our Mahogany Run condo on March 31. We saw at least 6 young Red Fox kits playing near the entrance of a den located under a large spruce tree. We also observed this adult fox with them for a period of time. We have since seen some of these animals along the edge of a wooded lot across from our house.”

Fox sightings are always a joy, and this young family is a sign of the healthy habitat we’re working hard to maintain and protect. We’re so grateful to Joel for sharing this special moment with us—and with you.
